Established over a century ago, the Plaxton name has become a staple of the passenger transport industry in Britain and beyond. It is estimated that there are more than 20,000 of our buses and coaches currently in service around the world, testimony to the engineering which goes into every one of our products.
Through the ‘Forties and ‘Fifties, the business grew rapidly, emerging as the market leader with trend setting designs, Panorama, Supreme and the legendary Panorama Elite, the coach which set new standards of style for a whole generation.
Our range today has extended this proud heritage, Cheetah, Panther and the latest generation of Plaxton, the breathtaking Elite continue as the undisputed leaders in their field.
In 2007, Plaxton reached two significant milestones; celebrating the centenary of the company’s founding in April and becoming part of the Alexander Dennis Group of companies, Britain’s biggest bus builder.
Plaxton is now the coach brand of Alexander Dennis and the Scarborough site has become a major manufacturing base for ADL. As well as Plaxton coaches, it also produces a significant proportion of the the market leading range of ADL Enviro buses.
In ten years, ADL has advanced to the position of one of the fastest growing bus and coach manufacturers in the world, developing new products to meet the ever changing demands of a global market and expanding capacity to consolidate the group’s position among the world leaders in bus and coach production.
