Plaxton is set to expand what is already the most comprehensive line-up of coach models available in the UK, with the announcement of an important addition to its coach range for 2009. A new flagship model, as yet un-named, will offer high standards of comfort, and usher in a radical new style to the top segment of the coach market. “We are building on our success,” says sales and marketing director Kevin Wood, “we already command a significant share of the coach market with the current range but this is a stylish new model aimed squarely at operators in a sector of the market where individuality is a key factor, those specialising in corporate charters and high-quality tours and whose customers expect a degree of exclusivity.” It is the latest stage in an ongoing product development programme at Plaxton which over the last 18 months has seen its coach range expand to include high-capacity 15m Panthers, the introduction of Euro 4 models, the addition of the new Volvo B9R, and the availability of wide-entrance accessible bodywork being extended to include MAN models, and the B9R, The new model will expand to five the Plaxton coach range. Different chassis types, lengths and floor configurations allow for over 150 different variations of these five basic models, easily the most comprehensive selection available to UK customers. Whilst Panther, Paragon and Profile will be continuing largely unchanged for 2009, the ongoing development which has yielded the current extensive range continues, with a significant programme scheduled for the models over the next few years. Kevin was keen to stress that expansion of the range was a crucial factor in the decision to develop the new model, “Profile, Paragon and Panther offer exceptional value for money in their respective sectors but this adds a completely new dimension to our portfolio”. “Make no mistake,” he continues. “This is going to be a top level contender, a high-quality, head-turning design, and a significant player in the market for luxurious top-specification touring coaches. It will strengthen our presence in a sector where expectations are high and we’re confident it will meet the challenge” The new model will be unveiled at Euro Bus Expo in Birmingham in November, and Plaxton is confident that it will be one of the stars of the show. “It’s an exciting product, and we anticipate an enthusiastic response from operators,” Kevin Wood adds. Production of the new model will start towards the end of this year, with availability for the 2009 season ENDS August 2008 |
